What Do You Do?

16 Feb

What do you tell yourself each morning,

When you don’t have the courage to get out of bed,

When you’ve lost all will to live.

What do you say to those who love you,

When they don’t see the façade,

When you’ve lied to their face.

What do you see as you look in the mirror,

When you apply two pounds of make-up,

When you see the beast underneath.

What do you do holding the knife in your hand,

When you try so hard to go through,

When you’ve given up on the world.

What a powerful poem. Depression is a terrible disease and more than frequently misunderstood. Excellent work.

I feel ya kiddo. Hahaha I laugh it off, but what else is there to smile about anymore? The world is an empty place full of people. The paradox, your poem made me smile, it was intense and pretty and you seem like a cool person. I hope these aren’t your thoughts.

Thank you so much. “The world is an empty place full of people.” Such a great phrase. the irony of it… I used to think about suicide, but about a year ago, I decided that it wasn’t worth it. That I was strong enough to continue living. And in all honesty, I really want the day to come where I can saw ‘ha!’ to the face of the people that made my life miserable.
